About the role

The Plant Manager will drive continuous improvement and optimisation of all production processes. They will oversee all daily operations of the plant from manufacturing and warehousing to ensuring that all policies and procedures are followed.
The plant manager will have the key skills to develop processes that will maximize stewardship, safety, quality, cost control, delivery and productivity.

Key responsibilities
 •  Provide on-going leadership for plant safety and sustainability programs.
 •  Ensuring adherence and continuous improvement to the quality and food safety commitments of the site
 •  Ensure legal compliance for the operations.
 •  Achieving or exceeding budgeted operations financial, productivity and schedule attainment goals
 •  Leading the organization in the ongoing process of Continuous Improvement and collecting and analyzing data to highlight areas of continuous improvement.
 •  Ensuring excellence in management of human resources/labor relations
 •  Working collaboratively with all stakeholders, both internal and external to achieve results, along with demonstrating a vigilant commitment to ethics and our Company reputation.
 •  Ensure care of assets through the establishment and adherence to preventative maintenance and asset care programs
 •  Responsibly representing the Company in local, industry, community and regulatory affairs within the Company’s policies and culture.
 •  Plan, organise, direct and run optimum day-to-day operations to exceed our customers’ expectations.
 •  Increase production assets, capacity and flexibility while minimising unnecessary costs and maintaining current quality standards.
 •  Be responsible for production output, product quality and on-time and in-full shipping.
 •  Allocate resources effectively and maximum utilisation of assets to produce optimal results.
 •  Implement strategies in alignment with strategic initiatives and provide a clear sense of direction and focus.
 •  Monitor operations and trigger corrective actions when required.
 •  Share a trusting relationship with workgroup and recruit, manage and develop site employees.
 •  Develop systems and processes that track and optimise productivity and standards, metrics and performance targets to ensure effective return on assets.
 •  Stay up to date with latest production management best practices and concepts. Responsible for the day-to-day operations of the unit

Qualifications and skills

Essential:

 •  Degree with at least 10 years manufacturing experience of which 5 years should be at a senior level.
 •  Effective communication skills both verbal and written.
 •  Strategic Planning skills
 •  Financial and business management skills
 •  Working knowledge of manufacturing and warehousing operations in a food or similar industry
 •  Working knowledge of SAP or similar ERP system
 •  Computer literacy at intermediate level

Preferred:

 •  Master’s Degree
 •  Knowledge of SAP
 •  Experience in a food related industry
 •  Experience working in a union environment
