A multinational agri commodity trading company is looking for a dynamic and experienced HR Manager to lead and strengthen the South African HR function. This strategic role will oversee a staff complement of around 80 employees and be instrumental in shaping and implementing people strategies that support the business’s continued growth and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic HR leadership across the South African operations
  • Oversee and manage the full HR function, including performance management, recruitment, training & development, and employee relations
  • Take full responsibility for payroll management using Sage VIP and Sage Self Service
  • Ensure HR compliance with local labour legislation and internal policies
  • Partner closely with management to drive organisational effectiveness and a high-performance culture
  • Support and coordinate graduate intake programmes and other talent initiatives
  • Work collaboratively with global HR and leadership teams to align local practices with international standards
  • Support the onboarding and integration of new employees, including potential travel to other branches

Requirements:

  • A relevant degree in Human Resources or related field (non-negotiable)
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in an HR Manager role at management level
  • Strong strategic thinking and leadership capabilities
  • Proven experience with payroll management, including Sage VIP and Sage Self Service systems
  • Solid understanding of South African labour legislation
  • Willingness to spend the first few months intermittently in Durban to ensure smooth integration and understanding of group operations
  • Experience with graduate programmes will be advantageous
