RESPONSIBILITIES:
Financial Reporting & Compliance- Assist in preparing accurate interim and year-end financial statements in line with accounting standards.
- Ensure compliance with SARS and other relevant regulatory bodies.
- Monitor and implement changes in financial regulations and accounting practices.
- Provide full support during external audits, including documentation preparation and audit file compilation.
- Prepare and submit monthly VAT returns in line with statutory deadlines.
- Perform monthly reconciliations of VAT and Income Tax control accounts.
- Assist with NBCRFLI-related financial tasks to ensure compliance with industry-specific requirements.
- Oversee daily financial operations such as supplier payments, customer invoicing, and payroll coordination.
- Support cost tracking related to fuel, tolls, tyres, and maintenance, and assist in route profitability analysis.
- Collaborate with depot and operations teams to provide real-time financial insights.
- Ensure accurate allocation and reporting of fleet-related expenses.
- Execute daily operational finance tasks to maintain efficient workflows.
- Handle ad hoc finance and accounting tasks as assigned by the Financial Manager.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (e.g., BCom or equivalent).
- Completed articles (SAIPA, SAICA, or CIMA).
- Minimum 5 years experience in bookkeeping, accounting, or similar finance roles.
- Demonstrated ability to prepare financial statements and manage compliance.
- Prior experience in the transport/logistics industry is preferred.
SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES:
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting standards.
- Proficient in accounting software (e.g., Sage Evolution, Pastel) and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Exceptional attention to detail with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Self-motivated, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for cross-departmental coordination.
- Effective time management and ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
- Sound knowledge of South African tax regulations, including VAT and PAYE.
