Sea Freight Import and Export Controller

The successful candidate would manage the end-to-end logistics documentation and coordination for sea cargo.

Key duties include preparing bills of lading, coordinating with shipping lines and transporters, ensuring SARS Customs compliance, managing bookings, and tracking shipments to ensure on-time delivery.

• Documentation: Preparing and verifying documentation (Bills of Lading, Commercial Invoices, Packing Lists, Certificates of Origin) for import/export compliance.
• Customs Compliance: Handling customs clearance procedures, including Tariffing, framing, and Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) submission for Bills of Entry.
• Logistics Coordination:Log Booking freight space with shipping lines, arranging transport, and coordinating with CFS (Container Freight Stations) or bonded warehouses.
• Tracking and Reporting: Monitoring shipment progress and updating clients on status (tracking/tracing).
• Financials: Assisting with invoicing, costing, and calculating clearance/storage charges.
• Query Resolution: Managing Customs stops, queries, and examinations.

• Experience: Five (5) years proven experience in freight forwarding, clearing, and logistics.
• Knowledge: In-depth understanding of SARS Customs regulations and international trade laws. Must be familiar with cross-boardertransport processes and procedures.
• Systems: Proficiency in clearing systems (e.g., CargoWise, ACS, or similar).
• Skills: Strong communication, attention to detail, and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Must have own reliable vehicle.
• Must be willing to work weekends and after-hours (when required)
• Must have excellent communications skills ( Clients / shipping lines / transporters / border agents ).
