Vehicle Mechanic Workshop Manager

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with workshop management systems (WMS)
• Background in both petrol and diesel engines
• Knowledge of fleet management or commercial vehicle servicing is a plus

Requirements:

• Proven experience as a vehicle mechanic, ideally in both light and heavy vehicles
• Previous experience in a supervisory or managerial workshop role is essential
• Relevant trade certification will be advantageous
• Strong diagnostic skills and proficiency with modern vehicle systems and tools
• Ability to lead and motivate a team in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills
• Strong communication skills with both staff and customers.
• A valid driver's license for code 14

Key Responsibilities:

• Supervise and coordinate all workshop activities, including diagnostics, maintenance, and repair of vehicles.
• Lead a team of mechanics and technicians, providing guidance, training, and performance management
• Carry out complex diagnostics and repairs personally when neededthis is a hands-on role
• Ensure all work is completed to a high standard and complies with safety regulations and manufacturer specifications
• Manage workshop scheduling, prioritizing jobs and allocating tasks based on skills and availability
• Maintain inventory of parts and tools and liaise with suppliers to ensure timely procurement
• Keep accurate service and repair records and produce reports on workshop performance
• Foster a culture of continuous improvement, safety, and customer satisfaction
• Communicate effectively with customers, explaining technical issues and service recommendations
