A leading life insurance business, based in Johannesburg North, is seeking a Senior Actuarial Analyst to join its established Life Actuarial team. This role offers exposure across the full actuarial control cycle, combining deep technical work with meaningful commercial and strategic engagement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, build, deploy and maintain life insurance actuarial and pricing models across the actuarial control cycle
  • Lead enhancements to models and systems, including scenario, sensitivity and impact analysis
  • Analyse and communicate results relating to pricing strategy, profitability, policy growth, VNB and embedded value
  • Validate, reconcile and interpret data from multiple sources to ensure robust modelling outcomes
  • Partner with senior stakeholders to support strategic and commercial decision‑making
  • Identify automation, process improvement and innovation opportunities
  • Coach and mentor junior actuarial analysts, supporting team capability and succession

Job Experience and Skills Required:

  • Education:
  • Bachelors degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, Computer Science or a related quantitative field
  • Nearly or newly qualified Actuary (minimum 12 actuarial exams completed)
  • Experience:
  • Minimum 3 years actuarial experience within life insurance or broader financial services
  • Exposure to pricing, profitability, experience analysis and actuarial modelling
  • Experience working across end‑to‑end actuarial processes
  • Demonstrated ability to engage with senior stakeholders
  • Skills:
  • Strong actuarial modelling and analytical capability
  • Excellent documentation and governance discipline
  • Ability to translate technical outputs into clear business insight
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Coaching and mentoring capability
  • Non‑Negotiables:
  • Life insurance actuarial experience
  • Actuarial exam progress (12 exams minimum)
