Financial Manager – Trading Division

Our client is a South African agricultural and logistics group with international operations across southern Africa, the Indian Ocean region and beyond. They are seeking an experienced Financial Manager – Trading to oversee financial management across their trading entities, including fruit, nuts, coffee and fertiliser operations, with responsibility for SADC-region subsidiaries (Namibia, Zambia, Tanzania).
Key Responsibilities- Lead financial management and reporting across multiple trading entities, ensuring accurate month-end closures and management accounts.
- Oversee balance sheet reconciliations, creditors, debtors and inventory management.
- Manage cash flow, liquidity planning and working capital allocation across trading operations.
- Prepare budgets, conduct variance analysis and build financial models to support forecasting and resource planning.
- Develop and maintain key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure operational efficiency across trading entities.
- Identify process inefficiencies and recommend improvements, cost-saving initiatives and automation opportunities.
- Analyse data, identify trends and provide insights to support strategic decision-making across the business.
- Ensure compliance with tax and regulatory requirements, including support for annual audit processes.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and multiple departments to optimise processes and drive growth.
- Evaluate risks and opportunities, and develop strategies to mitigate risk exposure.
- Honours degree in a related discipline.
- CIMA qualification or CA(SA).
- 3+ years' relevant financial management experience.
- Exposure to financial management within SADC-region operations (Namibia, Zambia, Tanzania).
- Strong analytical skills and proficiency with data analysis tools (Excel, Power BI).
- Experience in import/export trading and foreign currency / international payments exposure.
- Experience in international trading (Mauritius, Dubai) is advantageous.
- Fluency in Afrikaans and English, written and verbal.
- Critical thinking and problem-solving mindset.
- Ability to prioritise and collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders.
