Internal Auditor

Job Description:

• Conduct operational audits across restaurant locations, including cash handling, stock, food safety, waste, and asset controls
• Perform corporate audits covering finance, HR, payroll, procurement, and compliance functions
• Assess the adequacy and effectiveness of internal controls and recommend practical improvements
• Ensure compliance with company policies, SOPs, and applicable South African legislation
• Analyse financial and operational performance data and validate reporting accuracy
• Prepare clear, concise audit reports outlining findings, risks, and recommendations
• Perform follow‑up audits to ensure corrective actions are implemented and effective
• Support the development of risk management frameworks and annual audit plans
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to improve processes and mitigate risks
• Assist with investigations into irregularities, fraud, and policy breaches
• Document findings thoroughly and escalate issues where required
• Travel to operational sites as part of audit execution

Skills & Experience:

• Minimum 3 years internal audit experience
• Experience within restaurant, retail, or FMCG environments preferred
• Strong knowledge of South African legislation such as Companies Act, VAT, Labour Law, Food Safety
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and audit or data analysis tools
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and critical‑thinking skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with stakeholder confidence

Qualification:

• Bachelors Degree in Internal Auditing, Accounting, Finance, OR Equivalent
• CIA, CISA, or Completed Articles - Advantageous
