Our client is seeking an experienced Software Implementation and Support Technician to join its software team. This role is ideal for a technically strong support professional who thrives in customer‑facing environments, enjoys SQL‑driven troubleshooting, and is comfortable working across software, networking, servers, and cloud platforms.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deploy and configure LAS‑developed software and databases on new customer sites
  • Upgrade existing customer software and databases to the latest versions
  • Provide first‑line and ongoing technical support to customers via the LAS Call Centre
  • Troubleshoot software, database, communication, and field device issues
  • Generate and execute SQL scripts for investigations, upgrades, fixes and reporting

Job Experience and Skills Required:

  • Education:
  • Grade 12 (Matric)
  • National Diploma in Information Technology
or relevant IT qualification, including Microsoft SQL modules
  • Experience:
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in software support and MS SQL environments
  • Proven experience supporting production software systems and databases
  • Experience working directly with customers in a support or implementation role
  • Technical Skills (Non‑Negotiable):
  • Strong SQL and SQL query writing (investigation, upgrades, and reporting)
  • Solid understanding of how software interacts with MS SQL databases
  • Microsoft Windows administration and server maintenance
  • Networking fundamentals (TCP/IP and troubleshooting)
  • Ability to diagnose software and communication issues
  • Advantageous / Preferred Skills:
  • Networking certifications: CCNA / CCNP
  • Cloud exposure: Azure (preferred) and AWS (advantageous)
  • Serial communication troubleshooting
  • Experience supporting field devices connected to servers
