The Role: Financial Manager
The Financial Manager exists to oversee and manage the financial operations, regulatory reporting, and accounting functions of the business. This role contributes directly to organizational compliance, financial health, and strategic growth by maintaining accurate financial data and ensuring strict adherence to South African Reserve Bank guidelines and reporting standards.The main focus areas include managing daily transactions, coordinating card and wallet accounting, handling institutional reporting, and ensuring smooth fiscal operations from the Hermanus office.
Key Responsibilities- Manage and oversee the complete financial accounting and reporting functions for the remittance and fintech platform.
- Ensure strict compliance with South African Reserve Bank reporting requirements, ensuring every completed transaction is reported accurately as prescribed by law.
- Oversee financial data originating from mobile application transactions, card partnerships, wallets, and retail payment channels.
- Coordinate FICA documentation, financial oversight and maintain rigorous adherence to regulatory transaction and balance limits.
- Process and verify daily financial settlements, online payments via third-party providers, and cash retail partner collections.
- Prepare monthly management accounts, financial statements, and accurate cash flow forecasts.
- Conduct regular reconciliations of bank accounts, customer wallets, card accounts, and payment gateway transactions.
- Guide and collaborate with internal customer support and agent networks regarding financial queries and transaction reconciliations.
- Necessary years of relevant experience managing financial operations, ideally within financial services, remittance, or a regulated fintech environment.
- Professional qualification in accounting or finance (such as CA(SA), CIMA, or equivalent).
- Strong technical knowledge of South African Reserve Bank regulations, Category 3 reporting requirements, and FICA regulations.
- Advanced proficiency in financial accounting software, transactional systems, and excel spreadsheets.
- Exceptional analytical skills with high attention to detail and absolute accuracy in managing high-volume transactional data.
- Structured, organized, and proactive mindset with the ability to manage complex regulatory deadlines independently.
- Strong communication and soft skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, support agents, and external financial partners.
- Resilient and adaptable personality suited for a dynamic, growing financial services environment.
- Ability to work full-time in the Hermanus office.
