Hospital Engineering Manager

We are seeking an experienced and highly capable Facilities Engineering Manager to oversee the maintenance, operation, and continuous improvement of all hospital infrastructure and engineering systems. This role is critical in ensuring a safe, compliant, and efficient environment for patients, staff, and visitors.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage and maintain all hospital engineering systems (electrical, HVAC, plumbing, medical gas, fire systems)
• Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations, safety standards, and statutory requirements
• Develop and implement preventative maintenance programs
• Oversee contractors, service providers, and in-house technical teams
• Manage departmental budgets, procurement, and cost control
• Lead infrastructure upgrades, refurbishments, and capital projects
• Ensure uninterrupted operation of critical systems (e.g., backup power, emergency systems)
• Conduct risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and technical documentation
• Support accreditation processes and audits

Minimum Requirements:

• BSc/BEng/BTech in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
• Minimum 510 years experience in facilities or engineering management, preferably in maintenance management
• Strong knowledge of hospital engineering systems and regulatory compliance
• Experience managing multidisciplinary teams and contractors
• Project management experience
• Registration with Engineering Council of South Africa (preferred)
• Knowledge of OHS Act and relevant South African standards
