About the Role
Our client, a technology-driven logistics platform, is seeking a highly motivated and results-oriented Business Development Lead to drive new customer acquisition and revenue growth. This role is central to the company’s expansion strategy and offers excellent earning potential through an attractive commission structure.
Key Responsibilities- New Client Acquisition: Identify, approach, and secure new shipper accounts via cold outreach, referrals, and networking.
- Closing Deals: Negotiate contracts, rates, and service terms to deliver mutually beneficial outcomes.
- Lead Qualification: Assess prospects to ensure operational and margin alignment.
- Account Handover: Provide operations with complete client details for seamless onboarding.
- Revenue Growth: Consistently achieve and exceed monthly and quarterly GP and account targets.
- CRM Management: Maintain accurate pipeline and account data on Monday.com (or other CRM systems).
- Market Intelligence: Track competitor activity, market shifts, and customer requirements to influence strategy.
- Relationship Management: Support new clients during the first 3 months to ensure smooth onboarding and upselling.
- Proposal Development: Create tailored solutions and proposals to meet client requirements.
- Brand Representation: Represent the company at client meetings, events, and industry conferences.
- Base Salary: R35 000-R45 000 per month (depending on experience)
- Commission: Structure and incentives to be discussed at interview stage.
Requirements
Requirements- Proven track record in business development or sales within logistics, transport, or supply chain.
- Strong negotiation and deal-closing skills.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship-building abilities.
- Proficiency with CRM systems (e.g., Monday.com, Apollo) and productivity tools (Google Workspace, Slack).
- Self-starter with resilience and drive to exceed ambitious targets.
- Analytical mindset with ability to align sales with operational capabilities.
- Entrepreneurial and target-driven.
- Strategic thinker with hands-on sales execution ability.
- Strong problem-solving and commercial acumen.
- Collaborative team player with leadership potential.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Sales, Marketing, or related field (preferred).
- 5+ years’ experience in B2B sales, with logistics/transport industry experience advantageous.
