About Our Client

The company operates within a specialised operational environment requiring advanced K9 coordination, training, and compliance. The business focuses on crime prevention, investigations, and the operational management of K9 units.

This role exists to manage K9 operations, including training, compliance, crime prevention, and team supervision. It contributes to the business by overseeing daily operations, managing staff and incidents, and maintaining operational standards through technical expertise in canine handling.

• Demonstrate a minimum of 2 years supervisory or managerial experience and 2 years crime investigations experience.
• Coordinate K9 unit operations and crime prevention activities.
• Manage staff within the unit and oversee daily operations.
• Handle dockets, incidents, and reporting processes.
• Apply knowledge of canine behaviour, drive modulation, and body language.
• Implement training techniques for patrol, tracking, and substance detection.
• Ensure compliance with the Criminal Procedure Act, Firearms Control Act, and OHS standards.
• Oversee kennel management and animal transportation.

• Matric certificate.
• PSiRA registered (minimum Grade C).
• DH3 minimum qualification, with DH4 or DH5 preferred (SASSETA / PSIRA accreditation).
• Valid firearm competency for business purposes for handgun, shotgun, and rifle.
• Valid Code 8 drivers license.
• Advanced knowledge of canine training, behaviour, and handling.
• Understanding of emergency care for working dogs and strong leadership skills.
• Qualification in policing or investigations is advantageous.
