Senior Accountant

A well-established organisation within the manufacturing and retail industry is seeking to appoint a Senior Accountant to join their finance team based in Alberton, Johannesburg. This opportunity offers the chance to play a key role in financial reporting, tax compliance, and supporting the broader finance function within a structured and fast-paced business environment.

This role is ideally suited to a BCom-qualified professional with completed SAICA or SAIPA articles and 13 years post-articles experience who enjoys working in an operational finance environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring tax compliance, and assisting with reporting processes while also supporting and guiding junior team members.

The appointed individual will work closely with the finance leadership team to ensure financial accuracy, improve reporting processes, and contribute to the overall efficiency of the finance department.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage financial reporting and assist with monthly management accounts
• Ensure tax compliance, including VAT and statutory submissions
• Assist with financial reconciliations and balance sheet integrity
• Support budgeting and financial analysis processes
• Maintain accurate financial records and reporting standards
• Assist in strengthening financial processes and controls
• Provide support and guidance to junior finance staff
• Liaise with internal stakeholders to support finance operations

Job Experience & Qualifications:

• BCom degree (minimum requirement)
• Completed SAICA or SAIPA articles
• 13 years post-articles experience
• Strong experience in tax and financial reporting
• Exposure to the manufacturing or retail industry advantageous
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
• Ability to manage tasks in a fast-paced environment
• Exposure to team leadership or people management advantageous
