Finance Operations Accountant

A growing, multi-site organisation is looking for a Finance Operations Accountant to bridge the gap between head office and its operational sites.
This is a hands-on, commercially focused role that combines accounting, budgeting, stock analysis and operational support. You'll work closely with site teams to understand performance, identify gaps and help improve financial efficiency.
Key Responsibilities- Visit operational sites to assess financial and operational performance
- Bridge communication and reporting between head office and site teams
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting and financial analysis
- Analyse site performance, costs and variances
- Monitor stock movements, stock controls and related financial information
- Identify financial discrepancies, inefficiencies and improvement opportunities
- Support operational managers with financial insights and decision-making
- Drive the implementation of improved finance processes and controls
- Explore opportunities to improve efficiency through AI and automation
- Follow up on financial and operational action items to ensure accountability
Job Experience and Skills Required
Qualification:
- BCom in Accounting, Finance or a related field
Experience:
- Approximately three years' relevant experience
- Commercial finance experience preferred; articles also considered
- Exposure to budgeting, forecasting and financial analysis
- Understanding of stock and operational finance
- Experience working with multiple sites or operational teams advantageous
- Practical exposure to AI tools and/or automation required
Skills:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Good Excel and financial reporting skills
- Confident stakeholder engagement
- Willingness to travel to operational sites
- Assertive, confident and comfortable challenging stakeholders constructively
- Commercially minded and solutions-oriented
- Proactive, hands-on and action-driven
- Comfortable working outside a traditional office-based finance role
- Able to translate financial information into practical operational improvements
- Interested in using technology to streamline finance processes
- Remuneration of up to R600 000 per annum
- Fuel card included
- Strong exposure to operational and commercial finance
