The Role: General Ledger / Assistant Accountant
This role is ideal for a near-qualified finance professional looking to further develop their general ledger and financial reporting experience. You will play a key role in supporting month-end processes, reconciliations, statutory requirements, and financial reporting activities while working closely with stakeholders across the business.
Key Responsibilities- 2+ years of accounting experience within a General Ledger, Assistant Accountant, or similar finance role
- Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, ensuring accuracy and completeness
- Prepare and post journals, including accruals, prepayments, and other adjustments
- Assist with month-end and year-end close processes
- Support balance sheet reconciliations and resolve outstanding items
- Assist in preparing management accounts and financial statements
- Provide analysis and commentary on financial variances where required
- Support internal and external audit requests
- Contribute to process improvements and strengthening of financial controls
- Work collaboratively with stakeholders across the business to support finance operations
- Near-qualified accountant studying towards ACCA, CIMA, or ACA
- Experience working with SAP S/4HANA
- Strong understanding of double-entry bookkeeping and core accounting principles
- Experience with month-end activities and balance sheet reconciliations
- High attention to detail and strong levels of accuracy
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage deadlines effectively
- Good communication skills and the ability to work with stakeholders across the business
- Proactive mindset with a structured and process-driven approach
- Comfortable working within a collaborative and high-performing finance environment
