The Role: General Ledger / Assistant Accountant

This role is ideal for a near-qualified finance professional looking to further develop their general ledger and financial reporting experience. You will play a key role in supporting month-end processes, reconciliations, statutory requirements, and financial reporting activities while working closely with stakeholders across the business.

Key Responsibilities
  • 2+ years of accounting experience within a General Ledger, Assistant Accountant, or similar finance role
  • Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, ensuring accuracy and completeness
  • Prepare and post journals, including accruals, prepayments, and other adjustments
  • Assist with month-end and year-end close processes
  • Support balance sheet reconciliations and resolve outstanding items
  • Assist in preparing management accounts and financial statements
  • Provide analysis and commentary on financial variances where required
  • Support internal and external audit requests
  • Contribute to process improvements and strengthening of financial controls
  • Work collaboratively with stakeholders across the business to support finance operations
About You
  • Near-qualified accountant studying towards ACCA, CIMA, or ACA
  • Experience working with SAP S/4HANA
  • Strong understanding of double-entry bookkeeping and core accounting principles
  • Experience with month-end activities and balance sheet reconciliations
  • High attention to detail and strong levels of accuracy
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage deadlines effectively
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work with stakeholders across the business
  • Proactive mindset with a structured and process-driven approach
  • Comfortable working within a collaborative and high-performing finance environment
