Our client is seeking a high-calibre, relationship-driven Business Development Manager to join their team in Pretoria. This specialist, senior-level role is designed for a professional who possesses a rare combination of industry experience, personal capability, and a deep network of existing broker relationships.

Key Responsibilities:
- Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong, trust-based relationships with both independent and corporate broker firms.
- Strategic Advisory: Act as a trusted advisor to brokers by understanding their business needs, current frustrations, and growth opportunities.
- Value Positioning: Position our clients solutions to add tangible value to brokers and their clients.
- Portfolio Growth: Identify and unlock new business opportunities, facilitating the transfer and growth of broker portfolios onto our clients platforms.
- Market Intelligence: Proactively identify market opportunities and potential portfolio movements.
- Reporting: Provide structured reporting on all activities, pipelines, and progress.
- Communication: Maintain a high level of professionalism at all times.
Requirements:
- Industry Experience: Proven experience in short-term insurance, covering personal, commercial, and specialist lines.
- Broker-Facing Roles: A background in relationship management, client services, or underwriting support.
- Established Network: A well-established and active existing network of brokers and industry contacts is essential.
- Technical Understanding: Strong knowledge of broker dynamics, market expectations, and the challenges associated with portfolio movements.
- Communication: Exceptional negotiation skills and an excellent command of English (essential). Afrikaans proficiency is considered an advantage.
- Soft Skills: High level of Emotional Intelligence (EQ) with the ability to handle objections and criticism professionally.
