Role Overview

The Field Service Manager is responsible for leading the service function, ensuring that all installations, commissioning, maintenance, and technical support are delivered efficiently and to a high standard.

You will oversee a team of technicians, manage client relationships, and play a key role in driving operational excellence, service revenue, and continuous improvement within the business.

This is a hands-on leadership role, combining technical expertise, team management, and client engagement.

Key Requirements
  • Engineering qualification (BTech / National Diploma – Mechanical preferred)
  • Gas Practitioner Licence – essential
  • 8–10 years’ experience in an industrial/engineering environment
  • 3–4 years’ experience with boilers and burners (installation & commissioning)
  • Strong leadership and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to issue COC certificates
  • Working knowledge of boiler and combustion systems
  • Electrical knowledge (ELC1/ELC2 advantageous)
Key Responsibilities
Service Operations & Technical Delivery (Core Focus)
  • Plan, schedule, and manage service, maintenance, installations, and commissioning
  • Oversee technicians and ensure high-quality technical execution and safety compliance
  • Support fault finding, diagnostics, and system optimisation
  • Ensure completion of preventative, corrective, and statutory maintenance
Client & Stakeholder Management
  • Act as the primary client contact for service-related matters
  • Maintain strong relationships and ensure excellent service delivery
  • Provide clients with performance insights and system improvement recommendations
Sales & Business Growth
  • Support and contribute to service revenue and SLA growth
  • Identify opportunities to expand service offerings to clients
  • Assist with technical presentations and solution proposals
BMS (Boiler Management System) & Innovation
  • Drive development and rollout of BMS systems
  • Support system monitoring, reporting, and optimisation initiatives
  • Contribute to improving efficiency and energy performance
Team Leadership & Development
  • Lead, mentor, and develop service technicians
  • Ensure compliance with training, safety, and regulatory requirements
  • Drive accountability and performance within the team
Administration & Reporting
  • Ensure accurate quotes, invoicing, and site reporting
  • Oversee completion of COCs and project documentation
  • Monitor system performance and provide structured reports
