Temporary / locum dentist | strand, cape town
A well-established Dental Practice in Strand, Cape Town, is seeking an experienced and competent Dentist to join their team on a temporary/locum basis from 1 October 2026 until 16 October 2026. The ideal candidate will be confident working independently and comfortable providing a broad range of general dental treatments within a private practice environment.
The successful candidate must be able to provide general dentistry, including basic restorative dentistry, scaling and polishing, prosthodontics, extractions, and other routine dental procedures. A professional approach, good patient communication, and the ability to provide quality patient care are essential.
Minimum Requirements:
- HPCSA registration and a valid licence to practise in South Africa
- Previous experience working in a private dental practice
- Confident and competent in general dentistry
- Experience with basic restorative dentistry
- Competent in scaling and polishing
- Experience in prosthodontics
- Competent in performing extractions
- Ability to work independently and manage patients confidently
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Professional, reliable, and patient-focused approach
- Must be available for the full temporary period
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Providing general dental consultations and treatments
- Performing basic restorative dental procedures
- Performing scaling and polishing
- Providing prosthodontic treatment where required
- Performing extractions
- Conducting examinations, treatment planning, and patient consultations
- Maintaining accurate and up-to-date patient records
- Providing patients with professional advice regarding their oral health and treatment options
- Ensuring a high standard of clinical care and patient service
- Working efficiently and professionally within the practice
Contract Period: 1 October 2026 – 16 October 2026
Working Hours: Monday – Friday: 08:00 – 17:00
Remuneration: 40% commission on turnover, less VAT and laboratory costs.
