Inventory Assistant
The ideal candidate will be required to; to support warehouse stock control and operational efficiency by performing second checks on incoming stock, warehousing stock onto storage pallets, replenishing pick faces, maintaining stock rotation, and ensuring high housekeeping standards.
This role ensures stock entering the warehouse is correctly verified, stored, and maintained to support accurate picking and minimize stock losses.
This position may be assigned to General Warehouse or Non-Foods Warehouse depending on operational requirements.
Duties & Responsibilities
Stock Receiving Support and Verification
Perform second checks on stock received from the Receiving Department before it is warehoused.
Verify quantities, product condition, and packaging integrity.
Report any discrepancies, shortages, damages, or quality concerns to the Area Assistant and Controller.
Assist with transferring verified stock into the warehouse storage areas.
Ensure received stock is correctly packed onto storage pallets.
Storage and Warehousing
Warehouse stock onto designated storage pallets and locations.
Ensure pallets are securely stacked and wrapped to prevent damages.
Ensure products are correctly labelled and clearly identifiable.
Assist with organizing storage areas to maintain accessibility and order.
Ensure compliance with stock storage procedures.
Replenishment and Stock Rotation
Replenish pick faces from bulk storage locations when required.
Ensure proper FIFO (First In First Out) for NF and FEFO for stock with dates for stock rotation when replenishing pick faces.
Move older stock forward to ensure correct product rotation.
Report slow-moving or aging stock to the Area Assistant and controller.
Housekeeping and Warehouse Organization
Maintain high housekeeping standards in warehouse storage and picking areas.
Ensure aisles remain clear and accessible.
Ensure stock is not stored on floors or against walls in accordance with food safety procedures.
Assist with keeping warehouse areas clean, organized, and safe.
Remove damaged packaging or debris from storage areas.
Food Safety and Compliance
Follow all food safety handling procedures.
Ensure products are handled and stored according to food safety standards.
Report any contamination risks, pests, or food safety hazards.
Maintain compliance with company food safety requirements
Requirements & Qualifications- Minimum Grade 12
- Basic warehouse experience advantageous
- FMCG experience advantageous
- Hyster licence would be added advantage
- Attention to detail
- Ability to follow procedures
- Good physical stamina

- Basic stock handling knowledge
