Accountant & Payroll Administrator

Qualifications and skills required:
- Diploma or Degree in Accounting/Finance.
- 35 years experience in accounting and payroll.
- Proficient in SageOne and SimplePay is advantageous.
- Strong numerical, organisational and analytical skills.
- Strong knowledge of South African payroll legislation and SARS submissions.
- Experience preparing management accounts and statutory returns.
Accounting:
- Maintain accurate financial records, ledgers and supporting schedules.
- Process invoices, payments, receipts and journal entries.
- Reconcile bank accounts, creditors and debtors.
- Prepare monthly management accounts and financial reports.
- Assist with budgeting, cash flow forecasting and variance analysis.
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards and company policies.
- Liaise with auditors, tax practitioners and regulatory authorities.
- Prepare and submit VAT, PAYE and other statutory returns
- Assist with daily, weekly and monthly bank payment processes.
Payroll Administration:
- Process monthly payroll accurately and on time.
- Maintain employee payroll records including earnings, deductions, benefits and leave.
- Ensure compliance with SARS regulations, UIF, SDL and other statutory requirements.
- Prepare and submit EMP201 and EMP501 reconciliations.
- Handle payroll queries with professionalism and confidentiality.
- Reconcile payroll accounts and prepare payroll-related journals.
- Support HR with onboarding, terminations and employee benefits administration.
