Operational Accountant

A well-established and innovative organisation within the life sciences industry is seeking an Operations Accountant to join their finance team based in Johannesburg North.

This opportunity is ideal for a BCom-qualified finance professional who enjoys working closely with operational teams and contributing to the financial efficiency of the business.

The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting financial operations, maintaining accurate financial records, and providing valuable financial insights to assist with business decision-making. This role offers excellent exposure to both the accounting and operational aspects of a growing organisation.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare and maintain accurate financial records and reconciliations
• Support month-end and year-end reporting processes
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
• Monitor operational costs and provide financial insights to management
• Ensure compliance with internal controls, company policies, and accounting standards
• Assist with inventory and operational accounting processes where applicable
• Support audit requirements and preparation of supporting documentation
• Collaborate with operational teams to improve financial performance and efficiencies
• Assist with ad hoc financial and operational reporting requirements

Job Experience & Qualifications:

• BCom degree essential
• Experience within a finance or accounting role
• Strong understanding of financial reporting and reconciliations
• Exposure to month-end and year-end processes
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced operational environment
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
