[ref. g67083718] Senior Payroll Administrator - Durban
We are looking for a Senior Payroll Administrator to play a pivotal role in supporting the National Payroll Manager in ensuring the accurate and compliant execution of payroll across a group of companies. This position involves managing high-volume payroll processing, auditing payroll data, and ensuring full compliance with company policies and statutory requirements.
The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Key esponsibilities:
- Payroll Processing: Compile, capture, and verify payroll inputs received from various divisions, including earnings, deductions, overtime, commissions, and allowances. Process bulk uploads such as fuel reimbursements, bonuses, incentives, and other approved adjustments.
- Data Reconciliation & Accuracy: Perform regular reconciliations to ensure payroll data aligns with supporting documentation and policies. Audit information to identify discrepancies, flag irregularities, and ensure corrective action is taken timeously.
- Employee Records Management: Screen and verify new employee files to confirm all required documents are complete and accurate. Maintain up-to-date records of employee bank details, tax numbers, and benefits selections within the payroll system.
- Payroll System Administration: Assist with the loading of new salary packages, amendments, and approved changes. Monitor and maintain system configurations, ensuring that wage increases, new policies, and payroll rules for earnings/deductions are correctly applied.
- Statutory Compliance & Reporting: Ensure compliance with all statutory requirements including SARS submissions, EMP201, UIF, and provident fund returns. Apply and verify tax directives via SARS e-filing, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Management Reporting: Prepare monthly payroll variance reports, reconciliation schedules, and other payroll-related reports for management review and decision-making.
- Audit & Governance Support: Compile and provide supporting documentation for internal audits, external audits, and internal reviews. Ensure payroll processes and procedures are in line with company policies and compliance frameworks.
- Stakeholder & Team Support: Provide assistance to employees and managers with payroll queries, ensuring a high level of service delivery. Escalate complex matters to the National Payroll Manager when required.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Diploma or certificate in Payroll Administration, Accounting, or related field (Payroll certifications advantageous).
Experience in a payroll processing role, preferably in a multi-entity or high-volume environment.
Strong knowledge of SARS regulations, EMP201, EMP501, tax directives, UIF, and benefit contributions.
Proficiency in payroll software systems (e.g., Profit, Sage VIP, or similar), and MS Excel.
Understanding of wage and salary structures, earnings and deduction rules, and statutory compliance.
