Business Development Executive (Rail Industry)

Key Responsibilities:
- Proactively identify and secure new customers within mining and surface railrelated sectors
- Travel to customer sites to present, demonstrate, and promote products and services
- Arrange meetings, demonstrations, and presentations with qualified prospects and senior sales or technical stakeholders
- Prepare and present customer proposals and support tender submissions
- Collaborate closely with Sales, Marketing, and Operations teams to ensure effective lead handover and customer onboarding
- Serve as a key point of contact and relationship manager for assigned customers
- Monitor competitor activity, industry trends, infrastructure developments, and upcoming projects or tenders
- Identify and develop new market segments and growth opportunities
- Drive consistent and profitable sales growth through customer acquisition and account expansion
- Compile and submit regular sales and activity reports
Job Experience & Skills Required (Ideal Candidate Profile):
- 57 years experience in external technical sales or business development
- Exposure to the mining or rail industry is advantageous
- Willingness and ability to travel extensively within South Africa and other African regions
- Flexible approach to working hours
- Knowledge of export procedures within sub-Saharan Africa and familiarity with continental financial instruments (advantageous)
- Strong ability to explain technical product features clearly to customers
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Performance-driven with a strong results orientation
- Proven cold-calling, prospecting, and networking capability
- Proficient in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other relevant digital and social media platforms
