Hydraulics Fitter

Skills Requirements:

• Grade 12 (Matric)
• Qualified Artisan: Fitter
• Minimum 3-years experience in Hydraulics (In depth knowledge)
• Essential: Be able to build Hydraulic Power Packs from hydraulic schematics
• Knowledge of, pumps, power packs, accumulators, and other hydraulic components

• To build hydraulic systems, assemble hydraulic components as per drawing and at times per sample.
• Dis-assembly and assembly of pumps requiring adjustment and setting. Including troubleshooting without supervision.
• To build power packs from hydraulic schematics, assemble and test cylinders and other hydraulic components
• Assemble, pre-charge and test accumulators
• Co-ordinate the stripping and actual repair of cylinders
• Tagging of component/s
• Photograph component/s
• Preparation of parts for spray painting and paint parts
• Hand welding by mechanically fed electrodes
• Preliminary welding for positioning of jobs prior to welding, riveting or bolting up
• Machining of different hydraulic components according to drawing specifications, following the job card as procedure for manufacturing
• Assist in the stripping off and assessments of repairs for quotations purposes
• Field service
• Bending of hydraulic tubing
• Repetition drill sharpening by machine
• Drilling of holes
• Tapping and re-tapping of holes
• Deburring of all manufactured parts
• Sand and /or shot and/or hydro and/or grit blasting
• Check, prepare and mark own blocks
• Assembling of jobs as per drawing / circuit diagram
