Condition Monitoring Technician/ Mechanical Technician (CBM)

Job Type: 12-Month Renewable Contract

A leading industrial company requires a qualified mechanical technician or fitter to join its maintenance reliability team, supporting condition monitoring (CBM), predictive maintenance, and root cause analysis (RCA) functions on-site. The role includes vibration analysis, thermography, oil analysis, and equipment inspections to ensure continuous plant operations.

Requirements:

• Matric / Grade 12
• Trade Test: Mechanical Fitter or Engineering Qualification (N/S/T stream or Diploma)
• Valid Driver's Licence
• Category 2 (CAT II) Vibration Analyst certification – essential
• Laser Alignment training or practical knowledge
• Infrared Thermography certification or practical experience
• Oil Analysis understanding (WearCheck or similar)
• Understanding of CBM practices and predictive maintenance
• RCA knowledge or formal training
• Competent in data collection, reporting, and analysis
• Strong fault-finding, communication, and problem-solving skills
• Willingness to work after-hours, standby duties, and respond to call-outs

Key Responsibilities:

• Collect vibration data and conduct analysis using CSI AMS Suite / Emerson software
• Perform infrared thermography scans and compile reports
• Conduct precision laser alignment on motor/pump/gearbox assemblies
• Perform routine inspections and evaluate equipment conditions
• Identify and report potential failures and recommend corrective actions
• Support failure investigations and root cause analysis
• Maintain detailed records of all condition monitoring activities
• Collaborate with maintenance teams and engineers on continuous improvement initiatives
• Participate in standby rotation (min. 2 weeks per month)
