Junior Accountant

A well-established manufacturing group is looking for a Junior Accountant to join its finance team on a fully remote basis. This opportunity is ideal for a self-motivated finance professional who enjoys autonomy, takes ownership of their work, and thrives in a deadline-driven environment.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing key accounting processes, supporting financial reporting, overseeing payroll, and ensuring statutory compliance. Key Responsibilities:

• Process accounting transactions up to Trial Balance.
• Assist with management accounts and financial reporting.
• Manage payroll processing using Sage Payroll Professional.
• Prepare and submit VAT201, EMP201, EMP501, UIF, and other statutory returns.
• Handle provisional and corporate income tax submissions.
• Prepare year-end audit files and liaise with external auditors.
• Manage supplier reconciliations and payment batches.
• Maintain inventory and stock records.
• Ensure compliance with financial controls and statutory requirements.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives within the finance function

Job Experience and Skills Required:

• BCom Accounting Degree.
• Minimum 3 years' commercial accounting experience.
• Manufacturing industry experience advantageous.
• Fluent in both Afrikaans and English.
• Strong working knowledge of Sage Evolution and Sage Payroll Professional.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Strong understanding of accounting principles and statutory compliance.
• Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities.
• Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
• Proven ability to meet deadlines in a remote working environment.
