Despatch supervisor

SCOPE: Maintain a department organizational structure sufficient to meet all goals and objectives.

MAIN TASKS:

  • Directs and supervises staff;
  • Assigning and delegating projects;
  • Ensure that proper staff levels are maintained;
  • Coaches and mentors and/or implements corrective action for performance;
  • Conduct employee evaluations, reviews and approves employee timesheets;
  • Perform related duties as assigned or as the situation dictates;
  • Ensures assignments are completed on schedule and in a timely manner;
  • Ensure training and supervision is provided at all times;
  • Ensure that all despatch equipment is maintained and in operational condition;
  • Perform any/all duties and responsibilities as a Supervisor, oversees route-scheduling systems and despatch appropriate employees and vehicles.
  • Performs other clerical duties as assigned to maintain operations of the warehouse.
  • Reports directly to Warehouse Manage
KNOWLEDGE, SKILL and ABILITIES: The incumbent must have proficient knowledge in the following areas:-
  • Transit system operations, rules and regulations;
  • Read and interpret business routes and schedules;
  • Knowledge of local traffic regulations;
  • Knowledge of safe driving techniques;
  • Principles and practice of supervision and training;
  • Exercise tact and sound judgment when resolving operational problems

Education:

  • Matric;
  • Minimum 5 years experience as a supervisor;
  • Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with having a similar position for 4 - 5 years
