Senior Finance Manager
As they continue to grow their presence in Southern Africa, they are looking for a strategic, experienced, and results-oriented Senior Finance Manager to join their Johannesburg North-based finance team. This is a key leadership role reporting directly to the Country CFO, with significant exposure to senior stakeholders and global finance leadership.
Role Overview:The Senior Finance Manager will be responsible for leading the full spectrum of financial management for the South African business, ensuring compliance, transparency, and strategic alignment with group objectives. You will oversee reporting, governance, treasury, tax, and cash flow, while driving efficiency, accountability, and strong financial controls across the business.
This role is suited to a technically strong and commercially sharp finance leader with deep knowledge of IFRS and a passion for driving operational impact.
Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Management & Reporting:
- Oversee all aspects of financial management, including accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting.
- Ensure the integrity of financial results, compliance with IFRS, and alignment with group reporting timelines and standards.
- Provide financial insight and strategic support to the Country CFO and business leaders, highlighting risks, opportunities, and performance drivers.
- Lead the preparation and review of financial statements in compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements.
- Shareholder Obligations & Group Reporting:
- Ensure timely and accurate reporting to shareholders, group finance, and regional leadership.
- Maintain robust communication with global stakeholders regarding local performance, risks, and compliance matters.
- Drive alignment of local reporting with the group financial strategy, performance indicators, and investor expectations.
- Treasury & Cash Management:
- Manage local treasury function, including cash flow forecasting, liquidity management, and funding requirements.
- Monitor working capital, optimise cash positions, and ensure the efficient use of banking and treasury facilities.
- Liaise with group treasury to support hedging strategies, currency management, and financing structures.
- Tax Compliance:
- Oversee local tax compliance (corporate income tax, VAT, withholding tax, etc.) in partnership with external advisors and internal tax teams.
- Ensure the timely submission of tax returns and adherence to all SARS regulations and deadlines.
- Support transfer pricing documentation, tax planning, and risk management activities in line with group policies.
- Governance & Internal Controls:
- Lead the implementation and maintenance of effective financial controls and governance frameworks.
- Monitor internal audit outcomes, remediate control gaps, and embed compliance culture across the finance function.
- Ensure that policies and procedures are up to date and aligned with both local laws and global standards.
- Support risk management, audit readiness, and internal assurance activities.
- Team Leadership & Development:
- Manage and mentor a team of finance professionals, fostering high performance, growth, and accountability.
- Build capability within the finance function and ensure succession planning for critical roles.
- Promote a culture of collaboration, integrity, and continuous improvement.
Candidate Requirements:
- Chartered Accountant (CA(SA)) non-negotiable.
- Minimum of 7 years of commercial finance experience, preferably in energy, infrastructure, or large multinational environments.
- At least 5 years in a senior finance or finance management role, with proven leadership of teams.
- Strong working knowledge of IFRS, local tax laws, and corporate governance requirements.
- Experience with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, or similar) and financial reporting tools.
- High level of business acumen, with the ability to interpret and influence strategic decision-making.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills confident working with Senior Executives, external Auditors, and regulators.
