Quality Controller (Commercial Truck Workshop)

Special Instructions: Qualified Diesel Technician with Code 14 License and PDP essential

• The successful candidate will play a critical role in ensuring that all workshop repairs, servicing, and mechanical work performed on commercial vehicles meets the highest technical and safety standards before vehicles are returned to customers.
• This role requires a highly experienced Diesel Technician with strong technical knowledge across heavy commercial vehicles (HCV / HMV), capable of independently verifying the quality of technician workmanship and diagnosing potential faults prior to vehicle release.
• This position is ideally suited to a senior diesel mechanic, workshop foreman, or highly experienced technician with the knowledge, discipline, and confidence to enforce workshop quality standards.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Conduct final quality inspections on all workshop repairs and servicing completed on commercial trucks
• Verify that technicians have correctly completed mechanical and electrical repairs
• Perform diagnostic checks to confirm that reported faults have been properly resolved
• Test drive trucks after servicing or repairs to ensure operational reliability and safety
• Identify incomplete or incorrect work before vehicles are released to customers
• Work closely with workshop foremen and service advisors to ensure quality standards are maintained
• Ensure all repairs meet manufacturer and dealership service standards
• Provide technical feedback and guidance to workshop technicians where necessary
• Assist with fault diagnosis on complex mechanical issues where required
• Maintain accurate quality control records and inspection reports
• Support overall workshop productivity by reducing repeat repairs and customer comebacks

EDUCATION, QUALIFICATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:

• Grade 12 (Matric)
• Qualified Trade Tested Diesel Technician / Diesel Mechanic
• Minimum 8 10 years experience working on commercial trucks or heavy vehicles
• Proven experience within truck dealerships, fleet workshops, or commercial vehicle service centres
• Strong knowledge of Heavy Motor Vehicles (HMV / HCV)
• Experience with leading commercial truck brands advantageous
• Excellent diagnostic and troubleshooting capability
• Ability to identify poor workmanship and ensure repairs meet technical standards
• Valid Code 14 Drivers License with PDP (essential)
• Strong attention to detail and workshop discipline
• Ability to work independently and enforce quality standards
