Senior Credit Analyst

This role provides exposure to complex, high-value transactions, participation in senior credit and risk committees, and end-to-end ownership of a specialised portfolio.

This opportunity exists within a leading CIB environment renowned for its robust governance frameworks, complex deal structuring, and large-scale transactions across the resources and project finance sectors.

The role is responsible for managing a resources & project finance credit portfolio, delivering high-quality, commercially sound credit risk assessments, and supporting responsible risk decision-making at a senior level.

This position is strictly suited to candidates from a CIB credit risk background.

Key Responsibilities:

• Own and manage credit risk for a defined CIB resources & project finance portfolio
• Perform detailed credit risk assessments incorporating financial, industry, and macroeconomic analysis
• Prepare and present high-quality credit applications and recommendations to relevant credit and risk committees
• Manage the full credit lifecycle, including origination support, implementation, monitoring, and restructuring
• Produce monthly portfolio risk MI and present portfolio insights to senior management
• Monitor covenant compliance, security structures, and emerging risks, ensuring timely identification and escalation
• Build and maintain strong working relationships with internal business stakeholders and specialist partners

Job Experience and Skills Required:

• Education (Minimum Requirements):
• Bachelors degree in Business, Commerce, or a related discipline
• Postgraduate qualification preferred (e.g. CA(SA), CFA, or equivalent)
• Experience:
• Minimum of 5 years experience within a CIB credit risk environment
• Proven exposure to Mining, Project Finance, and/or Oil & Gas sectors
• Strong experience across the full credit lifecycle
• Demonstrated experience presenting to credit committees and senior management
• Skills:
• Advanced financial analysis and credit assessment capability
• Strong commercial judgement
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills
• Proficiency in credit risk systems and Microsoft Office
• Non-Negotiables:
• CIB credit risk experience is mandatory
• Sector exposure to resources and/or project finance
• Ability to operate independently at a senior / VP level
