Sales Consultant (Inbound Tourism)- Southern Suburbs

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced, enthusiastic, and customer-focused Sales Consultant to join a dynamic inbound tourism team. The successful candidate will play a key role in designing, costing, and selling tailor-made travel itineraries for international clients traveling to East Africa and Southern Africa.

This role requires strong destination and product knowledge, excellent client service skills, and the ability to convert inquiries into confirmed bookings. The Sales Consultant will manage the full sales cycle, from initial enquiry through to post-travel support.

Key Responsibilities
  • Handle inbound travel enquiries from international travel agents and a limited number of direct clients
  • Design, cost, and sell luxury, tailor-made itineraries for East and Southern Africa
  • Qualify leads and convert enquiries into confirmed bookings (no cold calling required)
  • Act as the primary point of contact for agents/clients throughout the quotation and booking process
  • Prepare accurate, creative, and professional quotations and proposals within required turnaround times
  • Maintain detailed knowledge of destinations, lodges, camps, routes, airlines, and logistics
  • Proactively follow up on quotes to maximize conversion and sales performance
  • Accurately capture all booking and client information in the reservations system
  • Provide pre-travel, in-travel, and post-travel support to ensure a seamless client experience
  • Assist the business in achieving sales targets and budget objectives
  • Represent the business professionally in all dealings with clients and suppliers
Required Skills and Experience
  • Proven experience in inbound tourism sales, preferably within luxury or tailor-made travel
  • Strong English written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong sales ability, with a track record of converting enquiries into bookings
  • Creative and dynamic approach to itinerary design in a competitive travel market
  • Customer-centric mindset with a strong service ethic
  • Solid administrative skills and the ability to manage multiple files simultaneously
  • Strong time management skills in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work independently and take ownership of tasks
  • Experience using Tourplan and Wetu is advantageous
  • Strong product knowledge of Southern Africa (East Africa knowledge is a strong advantage)
  • Clear understanding of travel logistics, routing, airline selection, and property pairing

Reporting Line
  • Reports to: Business Relations Manager
Location & Work Arrangement
  • Office-based role with the opportunity for a hybrid (office / work-from-home) arrangement after the successful completion of the probation period, subject to performance and reliable internet connectivity.
Working Hours
  • Standard office hours, with flexibility required to accommodate international clients and time zones.

Remuneration Package- Based on experience and qualifications.
