Introduction
An automotive OEM in the Eastern Cape (Kariega) is looking for a Temporary Metrology Technician position in the Quality Assurance Division(Kariega) for a 6 months FTC
Brief Role Description
The purpose of the function is to develop, define and plan suitable measures in order to meet customer requirements in respect of quality through prevention of problems and continuous improvement of product and service within an acceptable timeframe, this function is accountable for Quality features & standards within a specific group (Dimensional evaluation of components for Series measurements, 1^st off samples, Final Approval, BMG testing, Audit Fault Investigations, Field Complaints, Supplier development, Calibration of gauges, Calibration of Measuring instruments, Calibration of Torque testing instrument, etc.).
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct dimensional measurement of vehicle components to ensure conformity to drawing specification.
- Conduct detailed measurement and analysis to aid part approval process of Internal and External supplier parts.
- Provide dimensional analysis and problem-solving ability to successfully resolve production concerns and improve the overall product quality.
- Conduct dimensional approval of vehicle components to ensure the successful release of components at the correct quality levels at relevant PEP milestones.
- Provide support to external supplier base to ensure correct Dimensional Metrology methods and principes are applied to ISO/VDA requirements
- Have a National Diploma / National N Diploma or Bachelors degree in Mechanical/ Electrial or Mechatronics Engineering
- Have a minimum of 5 years measuring software experience (PC-Dmis, GOM, Polyworks Preferable)
- Have a minimum of 5 years Metrology measuring experience (Tactile or Optical) experience.
- Offline and teach programming experience of CMM facilities
- Advanced computer literacy with proficiency in MS Office - Excel, PowerPoint
- Working knowledge of CAD software (Catia Preferable)
- Working understanding of CMM maintenance and TPM
- Interpretation of Technical drawings
- Design and building of measuring fixtures
- Sound understanding of the vehicle manufacturing process (Press Shop, Body Shop, Assembly, Purchase parts manufacturing)
- Problem solving/ analytical thinking capability
- Planning and prioritisation skills
