A well-established FMCG company based in Durban is seeking an experienced and commercially driven Export Sales Manager to lead and grow its African export division. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving international revenue growth, developing new export markets, managing distributor relationships, and ensuring all export operations comply with international trade regulations.
This role requires extensive travel into Africa and a strong existing network of distributors and business relationships within key African markets.

Key Responsibilities
Sales & Business Growth- Drive export sales growth across African markets
- Achieve export volume, revenue, and margin targets
- Develop annual export sales budgets and forecasts
- Identify and develop new business opportunities and export markets
- Expand and strengthen distributor networks within Africa
- Conduct regular market visits and customer engagement activities
- Build and maintain strong relationships with distributors, agents, retailers, and key clients
- Manage partnerships with local authorities and regional stakeholders
- Negotiate pricing, contracts, trading terms, and agreements
- Maintain high levels of customer service and account management
- Ensure compliance with international trade laws, customs regulations, and Incoterms
- Oversee export administration and documentation processes including invoices, bills of lading, and customs documentation
- Coordinate with freight forwarders, clearing agents, and logistics providers
- Monitor shipment timelines and ensure efficient delivery to customers
- Monitor competitor activity, economic conditions, and political trends across export markets
- Analyse sales performance and identify opportunities for growth and market penetration
- Work closely with internal supply chain and production teams to align stock and export demand
- Bachelors Degree or Diploma in Business, Marketing, International Trade, Logistics, or related field
- Proven experience in export sales, export management, or international FMCG distribution
- Strong knowledge of customs legislation, tariff codes, export documentation, and supply chain processes
- Experience travelling and conducting business within African markets
- Existing relationships with distributors within Malawi, Kenya, Angola, Mozambique, and Zimbabwe would be highly advantageous
- Strong negotiation, sales, and customer relationship management skills
- Proficiency in CRM systems and Microsoft Office
- Valid drivers license and willingness to travel extensively
- Strong commercial and business development ability
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
