Workshop Manager - Pretoria

Job Purpose

• Key Responsibilities 1. Workshop Operations Management
• Oversee daily workshop activities, ensuring efficient workflow and job allocation
• Monitor turnaround times and ensure jobs are completed within agreed deadlines
• Maintain high standards of workmanship on all automatic gearbox repairs

1. Technical Oversight

• Provide expert guidance on automatic transmission diagnostics, repairs, and rebuilds
• Support technicians with complex fault-finding and technical challenges
• Ensure all repairs meet OEM and company quality standards

1. Team Leadership & Supervision

• Lead, mentor, and manage a team of technicians and workshop staff
• Monitor productivity, attendance, and performance levels
• Conduct training, coaching, and skills development where required

1. Quality Control

• Perform final checks on completed jobs before delivery
• Ensure minimal comebacks and maintain high customer satisfaction
• Implement continuous improvement processes within the workshop

1. Customer & Stakeholder Management

• Liaise with service advisors and customers regarding job progress and technical queries
• Handle escalations and ensure professional resolution of customer concerns

1. Health & Safety Compliance

• Ensure adherence to all health and safety regulations and company policies
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workshop environment

1. Stock & Resource Management

• Oversee usage of parts, tools, and equipment
• Work closely with parts department to ensure availability of required components
• Control wastage and manage workshop costs effectively

1. Reporting & Performance Management

• Track and report on workshop KPIs:
• Productivity
• Efficiency
• Comebacks
• Turnaround times
• Provide regular feedback to management
• Minimum Requirements
• Proven experience as a Workshop Manager / Foreman in an Manual transmission or automotive workshop
• Strong technical knowledge of automatic gearboxes and diagnostics
• Leadership experience managing a team of technicians
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
• Valid driver’s license
• Advantageous
• Trade Test (Motor Mechanic / Transmission Specialist)
• Experience in gearbox rebuilds and advanced diagnostics
• Previous experience within a high-volume workshop environment
