Technical Sales Representative

  1. 1.Revenue Generation.
  • Drive revenue growth by achieving and exceeding sales targets through a combination of technical selling and relationship management.
  • Build and maintain a strong sales pipeline.
  • Identify new business opportunities and expand market share within assigned territories.
  • Manage key customer accounts.
  • Promote cross-selling and upselling of solutions.
  • Respond to customer enquiries.
  • Lead commercial negotiations to close deals.
  1. 2.Technical Sales & Consultation.
  • Provide hands-on technical support to customers by conducting site visits, analyse and assessing operational needs, and recommending fit-for-purpose solutions.
  • Perform product demonstrations, testing (e.g., jar testing, pH, turbidity), and troubleshoot issues to enhance product performance and customer satisfaction.
  • Translate technical information into practical value propositions for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Present persuasive technical presentations to stakeholders.
  1. 3.Proposal & Solution Development.
  • Develop customer-focused proposals that integrate technical specifications with commercial considerations.
  • Recommend appropriate products and dosing solutions, compile pricing structures, and prepare tender documentation aligned with client requirements and company standards
  • Tender meeting attendance, pack preparation and submission.
  1. 4.Market Intelligence & Business Development.
  • Monitor industry trends, competitor activity, and customer requirements to identify growth opportunities.
  • Provide feedback from the field to inform product development, pricing strategies, and market positioning.
  • Identify market gaps
  • Communicate customer feedback on all business platforms.
  1. 5. Cross-functional Collaboration.
  • Collaborate with internal departments (internal sales, technical, operations, logistics, and customer service) to ensure effective product delivery and customer support.
  • Maintain clear communication across teams and with customers to ensure alignment and service excellence.

Experience
  • Minimum 10 years experience in a chemical or water treatment environment
  • At least 5 years in a technical sales role
  • Proven track record in increasing sales, market share, and customer retention
  • Proven experience in solution selling and high-level negotiations.

Qualifications:

  • Matric
  • Diploma in Chemical Engineering or related
  • Degree in Chemical Engineering (advantageous)

Reporting structure:

This position reports to the Sales & Marketing Executive.

Personal Circumstances:

  • Must be able to obtain a satisfactory medical report from the companies medical centre.
