Duties & Responsibilities- Prepare and produce food according to the approved menu using effective cooking methods.
- Ensure quality and consistency in all food preparation.
- Ensure that food is served at safe and appropriate temperatures and that records are maintained where required.
- Assist with inventory lists, stock control, and reporting of shortages.
- Ensure that all kitchen areas are kept clean and tidy during food preparation.
- Apply strong cooking skills in the production of meals using suitable food preparation methods.
- Coordinate food preparation with the kitchen team to ensure efficient service delivery.
- Maintain hygiene and safety requirements for food, equipment, and work areas.
- Assist with training and guiding junior kitchen staff where required.
- Maintain portion control and assist with daily wastage reporting.
- Ensure that kitchen security and proper closing procedures are followed when required.
- Culinary Qualification, preferably SETA accredited.
- 2+ years experience in mass food production or canteen catering.
- Good knowledge of food safety, hygiene, and kitchen procedures.
- First Aid / Fire Fighting / OHS qualifications will be an added advantage.
