Mechanical design engineer Product development

We are looking for a talented Mechanical Design Engineer to join our Product Development team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the design, development, prototyping, and improvement of mechanical products and systems from concept through to manufacturing.

This role is ideal for an innovative engineer with strong CAD skills, a passion for problem-solving, and experience in developing manufacturable products. Current industry adverts emphasize experience in CAD, DFM, GD&T, prototyping, and full product lifecycle development.

• Design and develop mechanical components, assemblies, and systems.
• Generate detailed 3D CAD models, technical drawings, and BOMs.
• Participate in concept development, feasibility studies, and prototype testing.
• Perform engineering calculations and basic FEA analysis.
• Apply DFM/DFA principles to improve manufacturability and cost efficiency.
• Collaborate with production, procurement, and quality departments.
• Support prototype builds, testing, and product validation activities.
• Ensure compliance with engineering standards and specifications.
• Drive continuous improvement of existing products and processes.

• BEng / BTech / National Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.
• 35 years experience in mechanical design or product development.
• Proficiency in SolidWorks, Inventor, Creo, NX, or similar CAD software.
• Good understanding of GD&T and manufacturing processes.
• Experience with sheet metal, machining, fabrication, or injection molding advantageous.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
