Business Development Executive – Renewable Energy Offtakers
Our client is a leading renewable energy player operating across Southern Africa, focused on developing, owning, and operating utility-scale energy projects. With a strong track record in delivering power solutions and a growing presence in the private energy market, they are expanding their commercial footprint and client acquisition capability.
The Opportunity
This is a high-impact, front-end business development role focused purely on originating new clients (offtakers) for renewable energy projects.
This is not a technical or deal-structuring role. The successful candidate will be responsible for opening doors, building relationships, and generating qualified opportunities that are handed over to the internal deal team for execution.

What Youll Be Doing- Identify, approach, and qualify potential energy offtakers across corporates, industrials, mining, agriculture, and municipalities
- Leverage existing networks to generate warm leads and new business opportunities
- Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders (CFOs, energy managers, procurement heads, sustainability leads)
- Actively source opportunities through cold outreach, networking, and industry engagement
- Represent the client at industry events, conferences, and networking forums
- Manage and track a structured pipeline using CRM tools
- Provide market intelligence on pricing trends, competitors, and client demand
- Coordinate introductions and handover qualified opportunities to the deal team
- No PPA negotiation or contract structuring
- No involvement in financial close or funding processes
- No trading or technical project execution
- No delivery or engineering responsibilities
This role is 100% focused on client acquisition and relationship management.
What Were Looking For
Must-Have Experience- Proven track record in B2B sales, business development, or client relationship management
- Demonstrated ability to generate leads and win new business
- Existing network within corporates, industrials, mining, agriculture, municipalities, or large energy users or a clear strategy to build one
- Strong communication skills with the ability to engage senior stakeholders
- Self-starter who can operate independently and manage their own pipeline
- Willingness to travel extensively
- Exposure to the renewable energy or energy trading market
- Understanding of PPAs, wheeling, or C&I energy solutions
- Existing relationships across the SAPP region
- A consistently active and growing pipeline of qualified opportunities
- Strong relationships with key decision-makers in target sectors
- High conversion of leads into deal-stage opportunities
- Clear visibility and reporting on market activity and client demand
